How I Use Skedio With a Personal AI Agent
AI agents are good at a lot of work now. Research, first drafts, summarising a long thread, comparing options. But almost every task has a part the agent can't do for you: the call, the decision, the review, the hour of focused work only you can put in.
For a while, that meant my agent would finish its half and hand me a list. "Here's the shortlist. Next steps: call the venue, review the draft, send the invite." And that list would sit in a chat window until I forgot about it.
Now my agent puts those next steps straight into Skedio. And the best part: by the time I look at my calendar, they're already scheduled.
The Split: What the Agent Does, What I Do
Here's how I think about it. For any piece of work, there are two kinds of tasks:
- Agent tasks: gathering information, drafting, summarising, comparing, formatting
- My tasks: deciding, calling, reviewing, writing the parts that need my voice, doing deep work
The agent handles the first kind immediately. The second kind needs time on my calendar, and that's where Skedio comes in.
What It Looks Like in Practice
A typical request to my agent looks something like this:
"Pull together the three strongest options for the offsite venue and draft the invite. Add anything I need to do myself to Skedio."
A few minutes later I get back:
- A shortlist with prices and availability
- A draft invite ready to edit
- Two new Skedio tasks: "Call the top venue about dates (30 min, due Wednesday)" and "Review shortlist and send invite (45 min, due Thursday)"
I don't open Skedio. I don't drag anything onto my calendar. Skedio sees the new tasks, finds free slots between my meetings inside my working hours, and books them before their deadlines. When Wednesday morning comes around, the call is just there on my calendar.
Why This Works So Well
Nothing falls through the cracks
The weak point of any agent workflow is the handoff back to you. If the next steps live in a chat log, they're gone the moment you close the tab. Putting them in Skedio means they turn into time on my calendar straight away.
I stay in control of my calendar
Skedio's scheduling is predictable. It books tasks into free time, within the hours I've set, before the deadline. I don't need my agent to guess when I'm free or rearrange my week. The agent decides what needs doing; Skedio decides when, using rules I set.
It works with the agent I already use
Skedio connects over MCP, the open standard AI assistants use to talk to other tools. I use it with Claude, and it works with any assistant that supports MCP. There's no special "Skedio AI" to learn.
Capturing is instant
Sometimes I just say "remind me to chase the invoice, 15 minutes, by Friday" in the middle of a conversation about something else. The agent adds it to Skedio and I move on. That's natural language quick-add without even opening the app.
My Daily Rhythm
- Morning: I tell my agent what I'm working on today. It takes the research and drafting, and adds my parts to Skedio.
- During the day: I work through whatever my calendar says. The tasks are sized and slotted, so I'm not deciding what to do next.
- As things come up: New asks go to the agent. Anything that needs me lands in Skedio and gets scheduled around what's already there.
- End of day: Anything I didn't finish gets re-planned into the next free slot.
